My Students
My students live in lower socioeconomic neighborhoods that require support and resources for learning. One of the biggest challenges my students live with is the lack of knowing where their next meal will come from, not having basic care items, and needing support as a whole child. I work at a school with students that are eager to learn, but can't provide the basic school supplies needed for organization, success, and daily use.
Everyone should have access to basic school supplies to feel organized, successful, and prepared.
A large percentage of our students live in multi-family member homes, foster homes, other family members and friends' homes, and hotels/motels. These students and families may not have the financial freedoms to provide basic supplies.
Having the ability to provide our school's students with these items can change students' confidence, emotional well-being, and provide a positive atmosphere when they are at school. It is our job as educators to ensure that all students have everything they require to make sure they are receiving the best education possible. Breaking down these barriers will help students focus on their success while in our schools.
My Project
Donations to this project will help improve lessons and engagement for my students while in small groups. This will give them opportunities to actively participate while in groups, have resources to create meaningful notes, and help them become independent while using folders for organization, tools for keeping track of their work, and pens or pencils to complete the work without the worry of how am I going to get a pencil, pen, folder, markers, or other ways to organize.
Ultimately, my students' lives can change for the better by becoming more engaged in class, confident, and become better students for the future.
This will allow them to be more independent, organized, and not worry about supplies needed and focus on academic instruction.
