Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The students that make up our middle school and high school track teams are extremely dedicated and hardworking students, as well as athletes. The discipline needed to succeed in one, translates well in helping with the other. We are a school located in the South Bronx of New York City. Our students compete with teams throughout the city. Our school is located in district 7, which is an underfunded school district.
Our school and some parents have a hard time providing students with some of the needs for sports activities.
My students are currently a few steps away from injury. They are currently running in basketball sneakers, skateboard sneakers, and other non running sneakers. This will inevitably hinder their performance, as they continue to run, because they are not receiving sufficient support for their feet. With your help, students will be able to run better and run safely. There is nothing like a brand new pair of shoes to provide another boost in their self esteem when they are learning this difficult sport. These sneakers will help students learn techniques in short and mid distance running. Thank you in advance for your help!
