Help me give my students these cute, fun sensory-driven prizes that they can earn to help reward and motivate them to continue to set running goals each week to be able to accomplish participating in a 5K.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My elementary school is filled with students who want to learn, grow and improve themselves. They set academic, social and physical goals to help improve them as an individual to better their lives the best that they can. My students come from low-income families and from tough home lives. Because of their situations, they don't get to experience that many fun, inspirational activities. School is the place where we can help them have life long, unforgettable experiences.
You are capable of amazing things.
This is something we want students to know, that they can do and be anything as long as they keep trying.
My Project
I am starting a running club for the first time at EES. Running is a great activity that keeps students healthy throughout their entire lives but it also teaches them many important life skills. Skills such as patience, teamwork, goal setting and believing in yourself.
My objective is to help students learn how to set high goals and that by working together as a team and never giving up they can accomplish anything in life.
Working as a team training for a 5K run they will learn that they are not on their own and that we are all here for support and guidance to help them reach their goal. We will not only learn how to physically get prepared but how we prepare mentally and as a team by being supportive and positive.
The prizes will be additional little incentives that they can earn as they reach their running goals as they prepare over the 3 months for the final goal of completing a 5K run.
More than half of students from low‑income households
