Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from mostly low-income families. Our school is an ethnically diverse school and is located on the south side of Chicago. Many of our students speak both English and Spanish. Also, I work with an amazing staff that brings so much passion and energy to our school community.
My students are all very hard-working, creative, and insightful.
All of them are 3-8th-grade girls. We are very lucky to work with such a wonderful group of student-athletes. They love to learn, laugh and run They continue to amaze me every day!
My Project
We are in the planning stages of offering a Girls on the Run program at our school! We know this will promote life long friendships as well as improvements in the classroom. The girls have expressed so much interest and are so thrilled!
We are trying to put together finish bags for when the girls finish their very first 5K!
They will really enjoy the sense of accomplishment one feels when finishing a race. They will also be so happy to have these finish bags to help them celebrate such an accomplishment.
Thank you for helping us promote Girls on the Run! Our girls often cannot get outside to run because it is dangerous. Running together will be safer. Girls will also learn to love exercising and competing! Lastly, we are certain these benefits will help in the classroom as well!
