My Students
My students are special to me because they are the real definition of determination and courage. With all that Houston has faced within the past few months, my students have STILL managed to keep positive attitudes and have adjusted to the many obstacles that were thrown their way.
Our school is a Title I., low socio-economical school and were hit hard by Hurricane Harvey.
The students enrolled here have come from families who have little to nothing. Despite the damages and loss that their families have attained due to Hurricane Harvey, they still come to school with a fresh attitude, and determination in their hearts. Their smile is what continues to drive my passion as an Physical Educator and Coach.
Due to budget limitations, our school's girl's athletics program does not have enough equipment to allow them to experience various activities that students in surrounding areas may enjoy. We have incorporated fun, rigorous activities that include STEM and nutrition, however, we are still in need of equipment to maximize the performance of many of these activities.
My Project
My Girl's Cross Country Team will benefit a great deal from this equipment. When going to cross country meets, they are one of few schools who doesn't have a canopy. When the sun comes out, they are literally sitting in the heat with no shade for hours at a time. The duffel bags will come in handy because my athletes either bring their backpacks or have no bag at all to put their belongings in. They also need the canopy tents to block the sun to eat under while at the meets also. The tops will also make them look more uninformed in their appearance.
