This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As I'm going into my 4th year of teaching I am trying to find more and more ways to give my students the education they deserve. Most of my students come from poverty and little to no resources for things especially school. School does not just include, math, science, reading, and writing. It also includes physical fitness.
Girls in general are given less opportunities than boys are especially regarding sports and fitness.
I want to show not just the girls but the boys also that everyone can compete together. Some times boys sports are a little different like how the boys 3-point line is a little further away than the girls, or how in tennis girls matches are best of 3 and the men's matches are best of 5. Just because men are built differently than girls doesn't mean girls can't have the same opportunity as men.
My Project
This equipment will be used at the school and when we travel for running races. Each year we have about 30 or so students in the running program and about 20 of them are girls aged 7-10. Having equipment like duffle bags so the kids can put their uniforms in it or their water bottles and we can keep everything together will make races in the morning or until late afternoon that much smoother.
Medicine balls and agility ladder are great for getting the kids endurance and muscle up so they can run rather and faster.
