Run, Kick, Return and Read

My students need a soccer ball, goals and a ball pump in order to have our impromptu soccer games to break up our reading, writing and study.

My Students

When my students walk in the room, I feel happy even if I've been having a challenging day. They are eager, funny, curious and inspiring. Despite their learning disabilities and struggles with reading, the majority of my students persevere and improve their reading by at least one grade level.

My students have drive and they really want to learn, grow as students and achieve their goals.

Several students put in so much effort that they exit my reading class by reaching grade level in reading.

My Project

When my students have an outdoor activity to look forward to and when they get enough movement and fun in their day, they can focus and learn. The majority of my students choose soccer for earned breaks. We close our computers or put down the books we are reading, head outside and run around like crazy for 20 minutes.

I would like to provide them with decent, portable equipment namely a high quality soccer ball with a pump to keep it in good shape and two 4x6 soccer goals that we can set up quickly.

The new equipment will benefit these 50 students and those for years to come by giving them a chance to burn off their excess energy and an opportunity to build relationship with their classmates through fun competition and sports. When they see the new equipment, they will be super inspired to work hard on their academics and to earn their soccer breaks. The result is happier, motivated and more focused students!
