I am a high school Math teacher in a low income school. I try to provide my students with everything they need, because they normally do not use them on a daily basis, therefore when they need them they usually don't have them with them. The thing I need is a donation of shatterproof or shatter resistant rulers. In the past I have provided the students with cheaper rulers and the markings wear off and they are hard to read. This past year our scores in the GEE 21 for the state of Louisiana were lower than normal. The category that most students were the lowest in was measurement. I feel that in this day and age students do not measure things in the home and it is left up to use to teach them that skill. If I could get a donation for 33 shatterproof rulers I believe my scores would improve for next year. I would like to have the students do blue print drawing to give them experience in this skill. I am also willing to spend two days a week next semester to tutor students that have failed the GEE this year and we would do a lot of measuring different objects. With the help of a donor I believe I can help to improve our school score for Math.
