Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are fun-loving, smart, and hardworking! Our students come from all across the city to participate in the unique ELL (English Language Learner) and ASD program specific for grades 6-8.

My students come from all different backgrounds to create a positive learning environment, where they will be encouraged to brainstorm, collaborate, and create works of art.

It is truly a unique urban setting.

Students at our middle school take an ​art class for an entire school year as a required elective and specials class and range in different skill levels and abilities.

My Project

Due to the current events surrounding COVID-19, I am hoping to create bags of supplies so that students do not need to share materials (and spread germs).

In the event that students transition to at-home/virtual learning, I would like to send materials home with students so that they can still create artwork.

This year (2020-2021), my students were all given individual packs of art materials, which we found to be quite successful. Since there is a lot of uncertainty for the 2021-2022 school year, I would like to continue

I am asking for enough rulers and scissors for each of my students to have their own to use during the next school year.

Due to our students' various socio-economic statuses, I cannot require students to purchase these expensive supplies. If I can supply my students with materials to help them be successful in school, it will be one less thing they will need to worry about purchasing and bringing to class every day.
