I have not met my students, yet, but I am 100% positive that they will benefit from having extra supplies within the classroom. I am a first year teacher, and I have put all of my current funds into the classroom. I need a little help to buy supplies for the students' home away from home.
The school has students from diverse backgrounds, that need your help to make their 3rd grade year the best one yet.
There are students who have parents that have money to help them be successful in school, there are students who are able to get the essentials for school but nothing more, and then there are students who do not have any financial stability in their life at all. There is a wide range of students in the school.
I want my new students to come into 3rd grade ready to rumble! I believe when they see that there are extra, nice supplies in the classroom. They will be filled with joy.
My Project
The students will have a nice rug to sit on while they are listening to their teacher read them stories about main idea, first person/third person point of view, different themes within the stories, and learning about setting and characters within the different stories. I will have the students pick a particular part of the rug that will be their spot for the semester.
The carpet will help the students not fight over where to sit on the floor, and will inspire the students to imagine while they are reading on the floor.
The rug will make it seem like the room is more "homey", and the students will then feel like they are comfortable enough to be themselves during reading time. I believe having a rug in the classroom will benefit each and every student. Making the "reading nook" more comfortable and engaging will have the students more engaged and wanting to read.
