This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember school providing an amazing sense of community and positivity? Well, that's what we are! We are a high school with a very diverse population, with a majority of Hispanic students in the Phoenix Metro area. Many of our students come from families who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. My seniors are looking to gain academic skills, as well as prepare for their post-high school adventures!

In our social studies classes, we look to explore the world around us and how we can best contribute to a better world, which includes all students successfully graduating and being involved in their community.

All students come from a unique set of experiences, values, hopes, and dreams. We all work to support one another in becoming their best selves.

My Project

When you are uncomfortable, you can't read, you can't focus on your learning, you can't think about all the things that are in front of you. All you can focus on is the discomfort. This is not something that makes us well off. This is something that stops us. It is not a surprise that we all have different needs to bring us comfort in the classroom. For some this can be a standing desk to fidget at. For others, it can be a spot on the floor with the wall against your back.

As we all have different needs, we need supplies to meet each of those needs so everyone can be successful!

This means we need rugs in our classroom for spaces to use as a work on the floor spaces for those students who learn best that way. It helps to be a collaborative and comfortable space! Some students would prefer tables with a comfy back to sit in to work together. So, some students need additional chairs. All these items together really do equal success for all!
