Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Teaching students requires them to be engaged and comfortable in the own classroom environment. I’ve had the same rug for the past 10 years and throughout the years, it has suffered a few stains here and there. Because we use our rugs to promote learning in the classroom, it’s important for students to be focused on gaining new knowledge and not the new (and old) stains or smells in the carpet. Not only do classroom rugs help with room esthetic, more importantly, it assists with classroom management. Students are able to have their own individual spots and stay in their personal space. We are also in need to more STEAM toys. STEAM toys allow students to learn through exploration through a more hands on approach. Our current collection of STEAM toys are very limited and do not allow all students to have enough manipulatives to enjoy. For these reasons, I am asking for your assistance with helping my students get a new classroom rug and more STEAM toys.
