My elementary gifted resource classes are highly motivated by the opportunity to engage in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) challenges! These bright students are always willing to make, model, and problem-solve. In my classroom, learning is differentiated to meet the levels, ages, and ranges of my students with an emphasis on engagement, engineering, and hands-on exploration. We recently read an article about the Rubik's Cube which sparked interest in this favorite puzzle toy! I instantly knew that this needed to be added to our classroom resources.
Solving the Rubik's Cube can boost student problem-solving skills, improve memory, and help build patience.
Students are eager to learn how to manipulate and solve this puzzle toy. After they have mastered the skill, some are interested in starting a Rubik's Cube club to share the experience with others!
