I am lucky to have the opportunity to teach an enrichment class with a group of diverse 3rd-6th graders! They are extremely eager to learn and love challenging themselves. The population of our school is 50% free and reduced lunch. We are not a neighborhood school; the students come from all over Omaha. When they are interested in something educational as a group, I want to do anything I can to encourage them to continue their interest. They deserve to be challenged!
My Project
I have noticed my students have become very interested in Rubik's Cubes this year. As a math teacher, I love that they strive to do better on their daily work to be able to work on different types of cubes. These puzzles do amazing things for their brains.
When one student solves a Rubik's Cube, all of the students become excited.
It's awesome to see the classroom morale increase because they are supporting and helping one another. When I saw the excitement and success the students felt, I asked if they would like a Rubik's Cube enrichment class. Out of sixty students, sixty said yes.
