Rube Goldberg Machines

My Project

We have been learning about simple machines and forces in our third-grade groups. Third-grade students have been creating multi-step contraptions to explore each simple machine. Many of them have discovered that gravity is an important force and are asking for a board to create their contraption to take advantage of gravity. Students are also requesting dominoes, string, balls, tubes, rulers, tape, and materials to make tracks.

These student-requested supplies will help them create Rube Goldberg Machines and better understand how simple machines make work easier.

As they work together to create their Rube Goldberg contraptions, they are working on developing skills of teamwork, cooperation, and leadership. They will also create a written report to describe how the simple machines are used in this project and will present their project at the Spring Open House.
