RTI (Reading) Incentives

My Students

We are "family" in our classrooms. We do not see color, size, beauty, or anything else in our rooms, for we love everyone! Some of us have IEPs, but enjoy being included in the general ed classroom. We have lots of different needs and require a lot of positive reinforcement and rewards in order to stay on task and remember that we must behave in school. Some of us have learning, social and emotional disabilities. We may be a high poverty/ rural school, but we have lots of LOVE here! Every day, my students face incredible challenges as they strive to learn how to become fluent readers.

With the right help, we can learn to read—and even to enjoy reading—and with your support we can be anything we want to be.

My Project

Reading is hard for my students, yet they come to me each day ready to give it all they have. It really is exhausting for them. They do this with enthusiasm most of the time.

Sometimes, the kids need a little motivation to participate in class and continue the practice at home.

They get so excited when they realize that they are becoming better readers. Small incentives make my students feel special and want to work harder to get into the treasure box. They look forward to showing me their reading log from the previous night to get a smelly sticker.
