My Project
I am passionate about STEM outreach. I currently teach biology but I believe that effective STEM instruction incorporates as many approaches as possible to get students excited and engaged. Why robots ? It adds gaming and fun to any concept. Students can race spheros in a biology related game or practice collecting data for increased STEM literacy. These bots are going to challenge students to think critically. Biology may not be their favorite subject but coding and engineering will be front and center with these awesome bots. STEM for Her spent time at our school introducing Spheros to our students and I could see the engagement skyrocket. I know for my 9th graders, exposure is everything to help spark their interests in STEM. From competitions to coding challenges and engineering design, this will add to the multidisciplinary approaches to learning that make me a better educator every year.
