Roses in the Safari: Items to Decorate My Fab Classroom!

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a small, cozy neighborhood elementary school in Virginia. The children in my building are lively and great kids. They appreciate and evolve from positive but firm motivation and are very bright when focused and interested. We were named a National Blue Ribbon School in 2006. Our school was renamed in June of 2018.

I love teaching grades Pre-K through first because kids at these stages are so enthusiastic and happy to learn!

I feed off of their enthusiasm, and it makes me want to provide them with even more innovative learning experiences!

My Project

It is almost time to go back to school--for TEACHERS, that is.

I am ready to get into my room to dust, wipe my tables down, and disinfect everything; I also want to decorate my classroom with colorful and vivid designs!

Every year, I have a classroom theme. The last time we were in person my theme was, "Miss R.'s Sweet Shoppe" and every design had a candy and dessert look. This year, the theme will be, "Roses in the Safari", which will showcase red and dusty pink roses, safari animals, and animal prints everywhere. (It was supposed to be my theme last year but we were virtual)

No, one would not see roses in a safari realistically; however, I like the contrast between soft, delicate flowers and raw, majestic safari life. I believe the theme will appeal to both my boys and girls and will have my classroom feeling inviting and inspiring.
