My Project

My students are creative, resilient, and eager to see themselves reflected in the stories they read. Many are multilingual learners who are still developing their academic English skills, and they thrive when given engaging, accessible texts that honor their diverse cultural backgrounds. They come to class each day with a deep desire to connect to the curriculum and to see their own lives and identities valued in our learning community.

By providing The Last Cuentista as a choice for our Lit Circles unit, you will help empower students to build their literacy skills through a story that celebrates resilience, storytelling, and cultural identity.

This powerful novel will allow students to strengthen their reading comprehension, practice critical thinking, and engage in meaningful discussions about heritage, perseverance, and hope. Best of all, these books will be used for years to come, benefiting our entire 9th grade class and making a lasting impact on many future students. Your support will help students discover that their voices matter — and that their own stories are worth telling.
