My Students
As my students begin class they can often be heard asking what special event we have for the day. They are eager to experience learning in a fun and interesting way. My first grade STEM magnet students are eager to participate in new and hands-on activities.
My young students are filled with wonder and joy as they learn something new each day.
Our school is a Title l school in an area where many of the students live in apartments and have limited financial resources. Many students have parents who work long hours and have to be in childcare or with babysitters. At home, they may not have the time or access to some of the opportunities they could get through school.
My Project
My young students are very interested in coding and learning about Robotics. Now that we have been back in school we are not allowed to share items so it is difficult to use many of our previous supplies. The Root Robot is magnetic and can be coded on the whiteboard. In this way all of the children can see what he is doing but yet they will not need to touch him. This will allow us to study Robotics in a fun and safe manner. The robot can also be programmed to write on the whiteboard which will add to the fun!
