My Students
My students are curious, hard working, and deserve every opportunity I can provide for them. I am so excited to give them an experience where they can take adventures through books and experience the real joy in reading!
We are a Title 1 school and many of my students have challenges at home that I cannot even imagine. Many of them do not have any books to read at home.
My students love to come to school and look forward to our time together. For many, it is the safety, stability, and structure, and FUN they look forward to the most!
My Project
The books on my wish list go along with a wonderful literacy unit I discovered called Rooted in Reading. This series was created by a Texas teacher and fits with our TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills). This unit has specific read aloud selections for every genre. The texts allow teachers to integrate literacy skills, vocabulary, reading, writing, spelling, art activities, and much more! Our library has some of the books, but I would love to have a complete set for our classroom which would allow the students to go back at any time throughout the year and reread the ones they love!
