My students need to read as many books as possible! They need to hear the rich language, be exposed to different genres, and experience literacy from some of the greatest children's authors ever published!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My second grade students are so eager to learn! They are constantly wanting new books to read! We are starting a new reading curriculum this year called Rooted in Reading! There are 4 read aloud books per month and I would love to provide them for my students!
There are so many fantastic books for this new curriculum, including some classics like Miss Rumphis and Rough Face Girl, and Old Elm Speaks: Tree Poems, and some great new titles that we can't wait to read.
My Project
My students will use these books to enhance their reading. Students love to be read to and these books are the perfect books for that purpose. They are part of a reading curriculum that my 2nd graders are using this year to build reading comprehension, grammar, and writing skills. These books also align across multiple subject areas for cross-curricular exposure.
We will be using these books as mentor texts for writing and reading.
When used in the correct sequence, each book is designed to emphasize a reading and grammar skill that builds on itself. A writing assignment is also included with the curriculum that also correlates with the reading and grammar skills.
