My Students
I teach reading and writing to forty-five, energetic and enthusiastic learners. They enjoy reading, math, science and STEM lessons. Our school is a high performing elementary school where students thrive with enrichment opportunities.
My students love hands-on lessons where they are able to work together and explore.
I strive to provide my students with hands-on and interactive activities. Our classroom community and collaborative atmosphere enable the students to go deeper with their knowledge while learning to listen to the opinions of those around them.
My Project
We will be using these books to supplement a reading program that I am currently using. Rooted in Reading goes through comprehension skills and grammar skills while focusing on a book a week. These books relate to themes of the month and provide great conversations in class. These books help create a classroom culture of diversity and tolerance through conversations that stem from these diverse books! It is important for me that my students are able to see themselves in the books that we read.
My students love Rooted in Reading, and look forward to a new book every week!
These are books that I do not currently have that are needed to complete Rooted in Reading from January to June. This project would be beneficial because I am moving to third grade with many of my students from last year, so this will expose them to more new books!
