My Students
My classroom is a place of challenge and discovery. Students spend the year learning the foundation skills they will need as they move forward in their elementary education and throughout their lives. My students are 2nd graders in Utah.
They are excited to explore the world through hands-on exploration to expand their capacity for critical thinking.
It is important for me to help them learn to take pride in their efforts and be willing to challenge their minds for the sake of learning.
My Project
Great literature inspires my students as they learn concepts and strategies to become amazing readers and mathematicians. I am requesting specific book titles which accompany lessons in math and shared reading for my second grade students. Rooted in Reading takes the reading standards and objectives for my age group and build's lessons around great book titles. Requested books and materials for guided math lessons help the math standards and objectives come alive for my kids. Concepts that are connected to great literature titles for my second graders are anchored in the most basic of building blocks...books! Each child in my care loves hearing a book title to launch a new concept or objective in class. Each story unifies the skill we are learning and enriches the climate by integrating literature in everything we do. Books are truly the most basic and yet imaginative way to reach students. Books light the way. They take us anywhere we need to go!
