Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In First grade, it is our time to teach students how to read! What if the books we read then helped them also to learn while reading? These books will provide that time to escape their world and rich opportunities to learn many different skills that students need in order to be successful readers.
Providing students with engaging and illustration-rich books can open a whole new world for them.
My students come from all different backgrounds, though most don't have the opportunity to have such wonderful books in their homes. These books will provide a copy for each of our four classrooms in first to have a copy to go along with our rooted-in-reading program. These books can also provide cross-curricular opportunities and STEM ideas.
