Salutations Super Supporters! Imagine walking into our classroom every morning welcomed by a morning message greeting. We need a new easel to continue the responsive classroom model. In addition, the easel will enhance our writing workshop and lessons.
Students attend a public elementary school (grades K-4) in a suburban area.
There are 12 boys and 9 girls in our class. We love learning in cooperative groups and through movement. Students work together to build a classroom community that values each individual student strengths. Students lend a helping hand to classmates and other members of our school community. We know how to work hard, give our best effort and have fun!
My Project
Every morning students are greeted with a morning message and students are excited and motivated to learn. Students look forward to it as they start their day with a positive message and interaction with their classmates. By greeting each other we build our classroom community. Through positive interaction and support we are ready to learn. Having a literacy easel in our room will give students more opportunities to interact in morning meetings, writing workshops, and literacy centers across the curriculum. Students respond to a morning message daily and this easel allows students to respond and view comfortably from a seat on the floor. Learning happens all around the room and this allows students to engage in small and large group lessons in areas around the room.
Students are active learners and they learn in so many different ways.
By modeling proper reading and writing practices with the use of the easel, students are more engaged in learning. Students respond positively to the responsive classroom and they are truly part of a community. This project will help support the responsive classroom routines as well as strengthen learning through small and large group instruction while using the literacy easel.
