This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
“We read to know we're not alone.”
― William Nicholson
My students are a diverse group with varying backgrounds. More than that, they are driven and inquisitive students that live in a community that is short on resources. Many of my students live at or below the poverty line. They face diversity daily. However, it does not affect their attitudes. They come to school willing and excited to learn.
I want to provide them the resources they need to achieve their dreams and aspirations. They deserve that and so much more.
My Project
Shakespeare is hard for anyone to understand at times. I did not fully grasp Shakespeare's language and writing style until I was a literature student in college. It is often unrealistic to expect students to put the time and effort into understanding the language Romeo and Juliet is written.
I want to help my students in their understanding of the play through these graphic novels.
I want to make my Romeo and Juliet lessons engaging and show them how accessible this play can be for their lives. I want them to be able to learn from this play and see it for all its beauty.
