Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students come from a variety of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. We are a Title I school but have maintained high standards in our teaching practice to receive an A/B rating for the past 5 years and be recognized as an A+ school!
Our students will be exploring STEAM topics focusing on coding, engineering and robotics, and love to use technology to create and explore, but lack the exposure to the technology to create and share what they've learned.
We have a majority of staff and students well-trained in Kagan Engagement Structures and strive for innovation, collaboration, and creativity.
My Project
My students are looking for a challenge with robotics and coding and Sphero EDU has a great challenge for them! In honor of the Apollo 11 Lunar Landing, Sphero is sponsoring this challenge with the Sphero Bolt robot. We have the materials and eager students to try it out but lack the robotics to complete the challenges. We are asking for three Sphero Bolt robots to compete with for this year and in the future. The challenges are coding focused and have a written report component where they do some research on the moon landing!
The students will collaborate in teams to complete the task and whether they win or lose, finish or not, this is a great practice in perseverance and persistence!
