My Students
Our school has a long history embedded in the community we serve. Students are excited to attend a school where many of their parents and even grandparents went before them. I have an exciting opportunity to going building a STEAM Resource program as we enter year 2 of the program! When you walk into my classroom you won't see students sitting in desks diligently taking notes, instead, you'll see students brainstorming ideas, drawing images, building models, testing their solution, and more!
My students are spunky, inquisitive, and hardworking.
"I never knew school could be this fun!" a student shouted to a group member as they were working on a STEAM project. It is moments like these that push me to ensure that my students always have opportunities for hands-on, real-life learning experiences. It is wonderful donors, like yourself, that can help me to provide these experiences to our youngest learners!
My Project
Teaching financial literacy requires hands-on manipulatives. Students are unable to grasp such a large concept through lectures and theoretical concepts. We as teachers must make it real for them. The brainflakes will allow students to have this hands-on opportunity. They can easily sort the colors, create patterns, and build structures when given only a specific amount of money to build their structure.
Our youngest learners will learn the basics of financial literacy, while the upper elementary schoolers will learn more in depth topics about conserving resources and managing funds.
In order to make these concepts easier for our students, I also need a rolling cart to easily get all of the financial literacy materials to teachers' classrooms. I'm lucky to have other financial literacy materials available to use with students, however, I am struggling with getting the materials to classrooms with ease. The cart will allow me to save transportation time and have more time in the classrooms with students. Can you help us roll in financial literacy?
