Rolling For Initiative- Creating A DnD Club

My Students

My students are sophomore level teens taking Writing class at my high school, just outside of Green Bay, WI. My Writing class is a team-taught course that includes general education, special education, and English Language Learner (ELL) students. We have around 1900 students and is in an ever-growing neighborhood. I am so proud of how they all came together this semester despite their different educational and personal backgrounds. The students who proposed these projects did so as our last assignment of the semester. It was so fun watching them work together and get excited about the potential differences they could make in our school district. The Writing Team at my school developed this assignment as a way to engage students in real-life writing and teach them the value of giving back.

My students created grant proposals centered around an area of need in our district they feel passionate about improving and set forth to do so by researching the benefits of their proposed ideas.

My Project

Our goal is to create a DnD club. DnD will spark creativity in students like no other activity has. They’ll create characters and vast worlds full of monsters and history. It’ll start conversations and create friendships like no other club has. New or experienced players will be a great addition to the DnD club.

DnD can provide interests in Mathematics, Literature, and Character creation.

When D and D and other Role-Playing Games are played in an inviting, encouraging, compassionate, and intellectually engaged environment, it opens the door to truly amazing possibilities for learning.DnD sparks creativity in students, for making unique characters as a player or creating vast worlds and stories as a Dungeon Master.
