Rolling for Adventure: Empowering Middle Schoolers with Dungeons & Dragons

Help me give my students essential supplies for our new Dungeons & Dragons club at school. The dice are used to predict outcomes of actions and the PLA filament will help us build miniature figurines for our gameplay!

My Project

I am requesting funding to establish a new after-school Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) club at DRMS, a Title I middle school serving a diverse student population. The D&D club will provide students with a unique opportunity to develop important social-emotional skills in a safe, supportive, and enjoyable environment. By using Dungeons & Dragons as a tool for learning, we aim to promote empathy, teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving abilities among our students.

Given that social-emotional learning is a vital part of our school’s mission, the D&D club will serve as an innovative platform to help students develop resilience, empathy, and problem-solving skills.

These are life skills that will positively impact their academic performance, mental well-being, and relationships with others.

I believe that providing students with extracurricular activities that foster emotional and social development is critical to their success in school and beyond. Dungeons & Dragons offers a unique opportunity for students to engage in a collaborative storytelling experience that emphasizes teamwork, communication, and critical thinking—all essential skills for navigating the challenges of adolescence.
