This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My classroom is home to a diverse group of multilingual learners (MLs), many of whom are navigating both the content and language barriers as they learn. As a teacher of sheltered content, I strive to create an environment where every student feels supported and encouraged to thrive, no matter their linguistic background.
A rolling desk would allow me to move freely around the room, offering more personalized attention to each student.
This mobility is crucial for facilitating small group work, assisting individual learners, and offering on-the-spot support where needed. Many of my students benefit from direct guidance, whether it’s explaining a concept in simpler terms or offering translations and visuals to enhance understanding. By having a desk I can easily transport, I can bring my materials, tools, and technology directly to the students, reducing the need for them to come to me and creating a more fluid and accessible classroom environment.
