This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students are incredibly diverse, bringing unique strengths and perspectives. They are eager learners who approach challenges with enthusiasm and creativity. In particular, our English language learners and students from immigrant and refugee backgrounds often face challenges, such as cultural adjustments, social isolation, and difficulties in communication. By introducing scooter boards in P.E., it can increase teamwork, inclusiveness, and promote engagement for all.

The physical benefits for scooter boards include: improving core strength, coordination, and balance.

It encourages active participation among all students. It also is a great adaptive activity, where students of varying abilities can all join in the fun, regardless of their skill level!

The psychological benefits include: boosting confidence, self-esteem, and resilience, which fosters a sense of accomplishment. It can also help reduce anxiety and stress, providing a positive outlet for these groups of students adjusting to new environments.

The emotional benefits allow students to express themselves freely through joy and laughter, which helps build positive emotional experiences. In addition, regular participation in physical activities helps students manage their emotions and enhances overall well-being.

The social benefits include: collaboration and teamwork. By working together with peers, it can enhance social skills and relationships among students. It also is a way to integrate culture, where students can share their own games and activities, promoting cultural exchange and understanding, and helping to build a sense of community. Scooter boards will also help my ELLs practice language skills in a low-pressure environment, facilitating communication and vocabulary development. Through peer interaction, it can encourage students to interact verbally, enhancing language acquisition through socialization.
