Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a self-contained classroom special education teacher in a Title I school in New York City. Most of our students come from low-income homes with little or no English spoken at home. Free breakfast and lunch are provided for all students at our school.
My students are very sweet, eager, energetic, and curious 3rd grade students.
They are visual, auditory, and tactile learners. They are also shy, jittery, impulsive, and need to constantly be touching and looking at things. Their reading level range from Kindergarten to 2nd-grade level. I firmly believe that with the proper resources, they will succeed and accomplish anything they set their minds to.
My Project
The mailbox center will help my students keep all their papers going home in order. At the end of the day it gets chaotic to hand out parent letters on their desks. Having their own mailboxes, by using a 12-Compartment Literature Organizer, the kids will be responsible to pack what they need from their mailbox.
The 3 drawer carts will help my students keep their school supplies organized.
Their desks won't be cluttered which alleviates time wasted going through their desks trying to find the social studies textbook or reading notebook. Each table will have their own cart for their supplies. Having smooth transitions from one subject to another helps the students stay on task.
