Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school is proud of its very diverse population but our students also face many challenges that are found in a Title I school with high mobility. Our students love songs, music and stories and we hope to build on this love using the Toniebox, a unique easy to use and durable digital audio system, to build reading and social skills. The Toniebox can be used whole group for a brain break, used with small groups for a listening center with books but most of all will be part of our calming corner: Rocky's Nest. Teachers can customize the little character (a Tonie) with special messages for the entire class or even specific students to support curriculum and social and emotional goals. The Principal can even share messages of support or a story through their own recordings. Students will be offered the opportunity to listen to these stories and messages when they need a break in Rocky's Nest.
