Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are eager to learn and love to get their hands dirty. We love to explore as a class. Learning is fun. Students need to be able to learn in an environment that will teach them. In an environment of learning is a project with the ability to explore while learning and help student explore and learn. I want them to feel successful in school and learn to love the journey of education. It is so fun to see their faces when they figure out the assignment through exploration and connect all the information. We are integrating reading, science, and math. It is so great to see them talk about learning and how much fun it is to be in school.
My students are from low income or homeless backgrounds and don't get many opportunities for exploring or trying new things, this will allow them to do both.
My Project
We will be exploring the world around us. We will be using the rocks and the hands-on exploration of rocks kits to explore and investigate rocks. We will be digging for fossils and breaking open geodes. We will understand the types of rocks and where to find the rocks. The hot plates are so we can create our own rocks and crystals. This will help students to understand how rocks are formed and the process that takes place to create the rocks. This will give us the items needed to understand rocks and fossil in depth and be able to know what, where, and how rocks and fossils are formed.
