Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the honor of being a fourth grade teacher in the District of Columbia public schools. Our students are kind, hard-working, humorous, and energetic. Many of our students come to school being survivors of trauma. Their resiliency is awe-inspiring. About half of our student population are English language learners and 99% of our student population receives free or reduced-price lunch.

Our students are creative and clever scholars who have all the potential in the world, and a whole school of adults supporting them in their efforts to succeed.

Our students have lived through some unfortunate and unimaginable hardships. But, it is our responsibility as educators to provide them a world-class education from the moment they step in the door. We strive to instill independence, self-efficacy, self-esteem and strategic thinking in every student.

My Project

Rocks and minerals are so fun to read about right?Wrong! Help this literacy unit come to life with these hands on, minds on learning experiences. These two kits will help connect text based reading to proving with evidence based on your own findings!

Scientists need to provide evidence for their points, help my students think beyond the page and prove with multiple sources of evidence!

What is more meaningful than your own experiential findings? Rock reading can be dull please help this unit become interesting, engaging, and more impactful!
