My students need lots of writing materials, such as Double-Sided Learn to Print Write & Wipe Boards, Classic Primary Composition Book, and Colored Pencils Classpacks, to help motivate them to write.
Visualize a very rural community that has limited businesses for employment and a school where many students receive free lunch. Students come from a variety of backgrounds, some with preschool background but many who don’t because their parents can’t afford it. This is the type of school that I teach in, but I would not trade it for the world!
Finding the resources to use in the classroom to help teach and even catch up on needed skills becomes a top priority in my classroom.
I love my students and I want to give them my best when it comes to preparing them to not only be good readers but to excel in all subjects.
My Project
The materials that I have chosen to use for writing will motivate my students to want to write! The pretty colored markers and colored pencils will be a great asset to our writing station and keep my Kindergarten students engaged in writing and drawing. They will also love using the white boards to practice writing words and sentences, along with using the stencils to help illustrate what they write about. The small answer response, hand-held boards will be used during whole group and small group time, to help my students stay engaged when answering questions. The 3 ring binders will be used to keep each child’s special writings in, used as a writing/math portfolio, and to be sent home at the end of the year for parents to see their child’s progress throughout the year. Also, the writing journals will be used for a specific time of the day that students will have prompts to do creative writing. Last of all, the record book will be used to keep up with my students and their progress.
