This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Welcome to our classroom! I teach a self-contained classroom with students diagnosed with profound to higher functioning autism. Being in a self-contained classroom allows increased student/teacher support and create a calming environment. However, the students do not have access to General Education Science classes and Electives.

I use multiple types of resources to add to our Special Education Curriculum for standard subjects to supplement, enrich and expose our students to ALL education.

STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering and Math is FUN, EXCITING and NEEDED for students to develop for future workforce and well-rounded adults.

My class project list includes a microscope and slides for students to learn hands-on STEM curriculum instead of just reading about in books. Students are excited to participate in activities like peers in General Education. The wobble stools on list will help active students calm and self-regulate body movements in order to focus on learning. The magnetic building set reinforces geometry and building knowledge with the excitement of creating new structures. The tool set provides opportunity to teach different tools and small machine curriculum with hands-on learning. The dance hoops helps reinforce music and math learning using whole body experience.
