Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students that I teach are amazing! They make my job a true joy! They work hard every day and enter the room every morning excited and ready to learn. Many of them face opposition and hardships, most recent of which was Hurricane Harvey, but they don't allow their circumstances to get in the way of achieving goals and reaching high expectations.
My students inspire me every day to persevere and do my best to teach them to the best of my ability.
They are a delight to be with, and I am so thankful I GET to teach them!
My Project
Second graders are becoming fluent readers - they are reading to learn now instead of learning to read. The skills introduced in 2nd grade are new and challenging, so all of these games and activities will really help students as they grow as readers and learners.
Main idea, sequencing, fluency, inferring, and nonfiction text features are skills that we are always spiraling in class, so these awesome games will make school seem like we are playing all day as the students become problem solvers and thinkers.
They will see and realize that they can think and reach their full potential!
The antonym, synonym, and homophone games will attract their attention and provide my ESL students with the pictures to help them create a solid understanding of the concepts. The main idea and inferencing readers will provide hands on and engaging practice. They will interest my students and trick them into learning! One skill second graders need improvement in is fluency. The fluency readers are fun and will help them develop a faster rate of reading, as well as expression. The contractions game will help students visually see how two words are made into one word. All of these activities will ensure high success in my classroom!
