This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are always happy to be at school and eager to learn! This is my sixth year teaching Kindergarten at my school. I work at a Title I school in an urban environment. In my school, 100% of our students receive free and reduced lunch.
These students are smart students and very capable of succeeding when given the proper tools.
We use a lot of music and technology throughout lessons since my students are growing up around technology. We are constantly moving using music and dance. My goal is to make learning fun for my students.
My Project
A new year is always very exciting! During the year all my things go through the usual wear and tear. I am always looking for new centers and activities to add to my collection for my students.
These new centers will help my students with skills learned at the beginning of the year, as well as throughout the year.
I am asking for centers for beginning sounds. I am asking for dice where students can build their own words, a skill which we work on all year. I am asking for a sequencing center for my students to use during centers. I am also asking for beginning sound and sight word centers. These are all skills we work on from the beginning of Kindergarten.
I am also asking for a center rotation chart, With this chart, my students will be able to glance at it and be able to know exactly where they are supposed to be at all times. This chart will also tell the names of the students in the groups as a quick reference guide.
I believe that all of these materials will help us have a great start to our school year!
