Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are wonderful, sweet, and inspiring. My students have moderate to severe disabilities and while they are in my class because of their disabilities, I see their strength, resiliency, light, and love for learning. Their disabilities simply mean we will approach learning differently, and that can be a beautiful process.

My Project

Reading is such a key tool for students to be successful in all areas of school and life. Having access to reading materials at all times in the classroom can make a significant difference in the growth of their reading skills. Many of my students are still working on pre-reading skills such as becoming familiar with print concepts and navigating a book from front cover to back cover. With a classroom library my students will not only be able to explore books on their own but also as small groups, so that as their teacher I can continue to give them a strong reading foundation. The library area will have floor seating and also provide a calming environment for my students that can help with their self-regulation.Thank you for helping me provide this to my students!
