We use these resources daily during our writing time to practice organizing our ideas, building sentences, and expressing our thoughts with more confidence.\r\n\r\nOne special moment that stood out was during a recent writing lesson when students used their new materials to plan and write about their favorite place. I saw students who usually feel unsure about writing become excited to share their ideas. They were eager to write more, add details, and even help one another. When the materials were first introduced, the excitement was immediate. Students couldn't wait to use them, and it truly made writing feel fun and approachable for everyone.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our writing journey, we will use these resources to strengthen our skills by working on complete sentences, adding details, and revising our work. Students will also begin sharing their writing with the class, building both their confidence and communication skills. Because of you, my students now have access to engaging, hands-on STEM materials that they use throughout the week during centers and exploration time. They have been building, creating, and working together in ways that truly bring their learning to life.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was watching a small group of students use the magnetic tiles to build a bridge. They tested it using different classroom objects and, when it didn't work the first time, they worked together to fix and improve their design. It was such a great example of teamwork, problem solving, and perseverance.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials were first introduced, the excitement in the room was immediate. Students were eager to explore and share their ideas, and even those who are usually more quiet became actively involved. These resources have created so many opportunities for collaboration, conversation, and creativity.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we will continue using these materials to support our STEM activities and connect them to our reading and science lessons. Students will be working on building structures, solving challenges, and explaining their thinking. These experiences are helping them grow not only academically, but also as confident learners.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making such a positive impact on our classroom. Every student wanted to sit on the \"leaves\" it was adorable to see them giggling with their friends.\r\n\r\nWe're using the rug for circle time, story readings, and even math lessons it's become our happy place! The kids love sitting together, and it's helped with their focus and engagement. One of my students, who struggles with transitions, even requested to sit on the biggest leaf on the rug during a recent lesson, and it helped him calm down and participate.\r\n\r\nNow that we have our cozy rug, we're excited to nurture our creativity! They were so excited to see all the colorful markers, fresh crayons, and brand-new journals waiting for them. We kicked things off with a collaborative writing and drawing project where students used their new journals to plan and illustrate a story about friendship. The bright Crayola markers and crayons helped bring their stories to life, and the Post-it easel pads were perfect for sharing ideas during group discussions.\r\n\r\nThese materials have also helped us stay organized and creative throughout the day. The new folders, paper, and pencil pouches have made it easier for students to take responsibility for their materials, and the laminating sheets have helped me preserve classroom visuals and student work for ongoing use.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, my students are learning in an environment that feels fresh, inspiring, and full of possibility. When my students first saw the watercolor paints, paper, crayons, and sharpies, their eyes lit up with joy. Many of them had never had access to such high-quality materials before, and they immediately began experimenting with blending colors, layering textures, and sketching out their own ideas. One of my favorite moments was watching a student who is usually very quiet beam with pride as she shared her vibrant watercolor sunset with the class.\r\nWe've already started using the supplies in our art projects, including a unit where students created self-portraits with watercolor backgrounds to represent their personalities and interests. Having the right paper and tools made their work more meaningful—they could truly see their ideas come to life without worrying about materials running out or breaking. The crayon sharpener has even become a little classroom favorite, making it easy for students to keep their crayons fresh and ready to use.\r\nLooking ahead, we'll be incorporating these supplies into cross-curricular projects, such as illustrating science concepts with watercolor diagrams and creating storybook pages in language arts. Your support has given my students not only the tools to create, but also the confidence and excitement to express themselves in new ways. Thank you for investing in their creativity and making our classroom a place where art and imagination can flourish.","fullyFundedDate":1742949187663,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-creativity-to-life-with-essenti/9182261/","projectTitle":"Bringing Creativity to Life with Essential Art Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Negrete","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8424879_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752024465043","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8424879"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_40886","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":343,"numTeachers":18,"percentFrplEligible":81,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":95,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"19.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":76.5,"schoolId":40886,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Barbara Webster Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Barbara Webster Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/santa-paula-unified-school-district/barbara-webster-elementary-school/40886"}
