Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are the giggling wiggling, intelligent, curious, often front tooth-less 2nd graders. They hail from the edges of the inner city and the struggles that come with that. They’re a true melting pot, enhancing our classroom culture because everyone is unique. I teach them to embrace their fabulous you-ness in school and in life. My kids are taught they can do anything, be anything and achieve anything. They are taught to love themselves, know they're smart and be excited to learn every day.

My Project

Second graders need to MOVE their bodies all day. Intermittent dance breaks and playground games don't always cut it or appeal to everyone. Flexible seating in rocking chairs will lead to enhanced learning and happier, more comfortable kids ready to learn and build confidence.

By incorporating these plastic rockers into rug time, small groups, reading and independent work time, students who need the sensory input or energy outlet will be able use them as needed throughout the day.

Without asking or even interrupting the class, they'll just have the choice to rock away. Let's rock 21st century education!
