Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My middle school students are amazing! Even though they face many challenges due to their low socio-economic status, every day they maintain the desire to learn. They are active and growing young learners with lots of hopes and dreams. By giving them the proper support and caring learning environment, all students are learning and growing, regardless of their individual situations.
My students love being part of our classroom community because it's a place where they can feel important, comfortable, and have fun!
My Project
My students are exceptional! They amaze me! They work so hard and I want to continue to incentivize and reward them for a job well done. With three months under our belts of distance learning, the excitement of returning to school has without a doubt faded. The reality has settled in that sadly we may not be going back to school for quite some time. But I do not want my students to think that does not mean we can't have just as fun and exciting a school year!
These gift cards will be used as incentives during a huge Zoom Family Holiday Party in which we will have a friendly competitions to enjoy each others company and build stronger relationships among classmates and families.
My students live in a low-income district and given the turmoil that our community (and the country) has faced over the last several months, families are in all different financial situations and even struggles at the moment. I want to ensure that my students still feel excited about coming to school and give them a little extra cheer during the holidays! With these gift cards, that they will earn through participating in our holiday party, working hard, and demonstrating their dedication to learning, they will be able to reward themselves with a special holiday treat that they maybe otherwise would not get to receive! I hope you can appreciate the impact that this reward can bring to my students in making them feel special and recognized!
