Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a special education teacher who works with fourth and fifth graders in El Paso, Texas. I have a small class of eight students at the moment with the chance to grow at any time. My students are excited about learning and love being involved in hands-on activities and real-world learning applications. They also love to use technology and work with their peers. We are looking for fun ways to apply life long skills in our daily school lessons that they will be able to take with them everywhere they go.
My students are big readers and knowledge seekers!
As a teacher I love appreciate this and want to offer ways for this exploration to occur in our classroom daily. I wish is for them to take risks and explore life. My students come from a low income area of military, retired military and families where access to different hand on tools may be difficult.
My Project
I plan to add these STEM tools to what we already have. My goal for my classroom is to have a STEM library that students can go to and choose what is going to best help them be creative and work in science and math.
Hands on is the new real life aspect of digging deeper into learning.
All of the STEM tools such as Magna Tiles, Building Flakes and Constructor set can be used to express what they are feeling and show what they are learning at any given time. These tools will also be used to help explore the world of engineering. I plan to work and learn how to incorporate different items into all aspects of learning. Help me give them an education to remember.
