My Students
I teach fifth grade reading in one of the best rural schools in Oklahoma. My students are a diverse group with varied levels of learning. Our classroom is a space where students enjoy coming to learn. We are a Title I school with the majority of our students receiving free lunches.
These students have huge hearts and love to learn in nontraditional ways, such as room transformations, integrating the arts into our lessons, and project-based learning.
My students have curiosity, creativity, compassion, and positive attitudes. They are truly amazing people. My school is wonderfully supportive of the active hands-on learning that we do in our classroom. I couldn't ask for a better learning environment for these students. We are truly a community!
My Project
My students love to read! We need more comfortable video rocker chairs to sit in when reading in our book clubs and novel studies.
The more comfortable the kids are, the more focused they are!
We can build longer reading stamina when we are reading comfortably. We can listen to the Harry Potter audio CD as we follow along in our novels, sitting comfortably in our new video rockers!
We also need laminating pouches to use when we are creating posters and projects in our classroom. We need printer ink for our classroom printer to help us show what we have produced. The Reading Strategies book is a wonderful tool to help me as a teacher provide engaging and challenging lessons.
