My students need Spooner Pro Balance Boards to use when working at a standing station to increase balance and core strength. The feedback students receive from using these boards while working will increase focus and fitness.

My Students
Second graders are the best! They are creative, curious, and funny. There is never a dull moment with them! In addition to learning content, they are learning when to listen and when to be social, how to collaborate and cooperate, and how to be independent, motivated learners. This is a lot! As a teacher, it is my job to make sure students are enjoying learning so that they continue to love school and becoming lifelong learners. One way that I can do this is by creating an environment that is comfortable, yet conducive to learning. The materials that I am requesting will help my students remain engaged and motivated learners, while providing lots of practice for the skills I am teaching. We need Spooner Pro Balance Boards to create more flexible seating options.
Students need to move!
I've been reading and researching flexible seating and feel this would really benefit my students and prepare them with 21st century skills. Flexible seating allows for movement and social interaction while learning.
My Project
Some students do prefer to stand while working. Often they end up leaning on desks which results in poor posture and sloppy work. I tend to stand while I work as well, and students notice that my standing workspace is higher than my desk. They asked for one like this, so I raised a table at which students can work!
In order to maximize the fitness potential if this area, we are asking for balance boards so students can rock and work their core while they work!
These boards can also be used separately from this area during motor breaks as well. They are sturdy and should benefit classes of students for many years to come!
