My Students

Welcome to Mrs. S.'s middle school Special Education classroom! Filled with positivity and fun, our amazing severe and profound students use a variety of multi-sensory approaches to learning and augmentative technology as a means of communication. While our students have many vision, speech and orthopedic challenges, we strive to provide our students with a welcoming environment where they are valued, their needs are met and learning is key. We hope to continue to build the classroom to provide the best instruction possible.

My Project

Classroom floors are hard. They are cold, plain and they are not inviting to students. Help our room create a sensory area in the classroom that is cozy, inviting and gives students the opportunity to get out of their wheelchairs and thrive! A soft large carpet and beans bags are just what they need! Sensory play builds nerve connections. By providing students opportunities to engage in sensory play they have social interactions, build problem solving skills, cognitive growth, motor skills and communication development. Help create an warm area in which students can get out of their wheelchair and stimulate their senses!
