I am a kindergarten teacher of fifteen students within the age ranges of 4, 5 and 6. They are special little people who often advocate the love for coming to school. They are little people who often carry alongside them big boy and girl problems. All of them are participants in the free breakfast and lunch program and often have to be responsible for themselves and siblings.
We live in a small Georgia town without much opportunity, but try to provide large, yet special, moments through fun times and optimal learning environments that are safe and complete.
Teachers' jobs are to stretch each child's abilities even when the student believes their talents are minimal. There are no minimalist ideas in kindergarten. Everyone is taught that they are super! And...my kids are always super. I want to allow them the chances to know and understand their potential!
We are halfway through our kinder year and many students have learned lots of their letter names and sounds. Now it is time to show them what those 26 letters can do when they are placed together. It's time to make those letters read! The magnetic letters will be used in small grouped table learning to read long and short vowel words, build sight words and they will also be used during center work time alongside the stand-up magnetic easel so that students will work as a team to build, read and write newly learned words. The pencil boxes will be used for storage.
Reading is such an enjoyable subject, especially if you have the right materials that keep the learning fun and inviting!
Pencil boxes, a stand-up easel, and magnetic letters will help us finish our kindergarten year and ready our readers for 1st. Please help us continue to keep rockin' the reading way!
